Since and then they were tenth in the Internationals in 1989, 5th in '90, 8th in '91, 2d in '92, fifth in '93, tertiary in '94, 2nd in '95 and in l996 swept the field of 47 other quartets to go the 1997 Queens Of Harmony. Their winning performance that magic evening was "(When It'due south) Darkness On The Delta," "I'd Requite The World To Hear Alexander's Band Again," "Hither I Am, Cleaved Hearted" and, just for yucks, Weird Al's parody of "La Bamba" entitled "Lasagna." Included hither are thirteen songs, from beautifully-arranged former favorites similar "Here's That Rainy Solar day," "These Foolish Things," "Glow Worm," "Something'south Gotta Give," "Reddish River Valley" and "Row, Row, Rosie," to new songs we oasis't heard similar "Somethin' Almost Ya," "Why Haven't I Heard From You" and the funny live cutting "Generic Uptempo Barbershop Song." Elton John's "Can You lot Feel The Dear This night" is beautifully sung and arranged, as is the surprising jazz tune made famous past Lambert, Hendricks & Ross, "Sermonette." The gals finish strong with a ringing Limelighters tune, "Harmony." Smiling on the cover dressed in Zebra-stripe overkill, ACG is non shy, and can chugalug, band chords and harmonize with the best of them and have big fun doing it!

Ambiance : Own't Misbehavin'
Review: "Ain't Misbehavin'" was recorded in 1986, just after Ambiance won the Sweetness Adelines championship, and features many of arrangements that were part of their repertoire at that fourth dimension. Vintage material, including several Fats Waller compositions from the era of bound and stride, dominate, recognizing the stylistic contributions of jazz and blues to barbershop. Whether the erstwhile-fashioned sentimentality of "No One Loves You Better Than Your Chiliad-A-DOUBLE M-Y," "I Never Knew - I Could Love Anyone Like I'm Loving Yous" and "Handful of Keys" - sung with lightening bolt energy - or the slower ballads, "I've Got A Feeling I'm Falling," and "All By Myself," which are conjugated with laserlike focus, Ambiance combines passion with incredible chops.
Songlist: Ain't Misbehavin', Lookin' Good Just Feelin' Bad, 'Taint Nobody'southward Bizness If I Do, It's a Sin To Tell a Lie, I've Got a Feeling I'yard Falling, Handful of Keys, (Oh Suzanna) Dust off That Former Pianna, The Articulation Is Jumpin', I Never Knew - I Could Honey Anyone Like I'm Loving Yous, Yous Were Meant For Me, Practice You Know What It Means to Miss New Orleans, All by Myself, No One Loves Yous Improve Than Your K-a-double-g-y, Kiss Me 1 More than Time

Ambiance : I Hear a Rhapsody
Review: Ambiance'southward best-known and almost requested arrangement, "Rhapsody In Blue," is the CD's opener ("rhapsody" denotes an epic work in one movement). With words past David Wright, also the CD'southward musical coordinator, the runway begins with a siren call, beckoning all to gather round. What follows is a rendition of Gershwin'southward classic, unlike anything heard before: symphonic in scope, a virtual vocal orchestration of relentless intensity and chutzpah. Barbershop chords and vertical harmony dominate, only the character of what may be Gershwin'southward greatest instrumental piece of work is maintained. After such an introduction, i might be speechless, but not Ambiance. They follow with some other Gershwin composition, finished by George's brother and lyricist Ira later George'southward expiry: "Our Love Is Here To Stay." The mood is sweetly somber, sliding gently from voicing to voicing, sometimes in unison, sometimes with solo embellishments. It's subtle, stylistically completely different from the rails preceeding it. Changing the mood again, the Everly Bros. "When Will I Be Loved," has a doo-woppy season, the bass asserting itself with brisk authority. This variety and willingness to try anything continues through Chopin's "Minute Flit," Fats Waller's "Keepin' Out of Mischief Now" and Francis of Assisi's "Canticle of the Sun," last with a piano-accompanied "Ave Maria." It's a thrilling ride!
Songlist: Excerpts form Rhapsody in Blueish, Love Is Here to Stay, When Volition I Be Loved, Gospel Medley, Friends, Ann MinhaneEverything Old Is New Again, Keepin' Out of Mischief Now, Permit's Sing Again, Pal of My Cradle Days, Something's Coming, The Minute Waltz, Canticle of the Sun, Ave Maria

Ambiance : Jazz Ladies
Review: Their last recording. The Ambiance audio, which must exist credited to David Wright, their musical coordinator and arranger, as well as the grouping themselves, is fully developed. The interpretation of their textile is equally important a component as the songs themselves, and their expert showmanship is axiomatic, translating effectively even on CD. This a quartet of high-wire walkers, and songs such as "Why Exercise Fools Fall In Love" and its opposite, "Steal Abroad," testify their versatility and fearlessness. "Dearest Of My Life," popularized by the rock grouping Queen, is a mod aria, requiring maximum range and control. Sondheim's "More" and Beethoven's "Moonlight Sonata" (with lyrics by David Wright), are accompanied by percussion and piano, respectively.
Songlist: Jazz Ladies Ride, Lounging at the Waldorf, A Bundle of Onetime Love Letters, Find Out What They Similar and How They Like It, Love-Eyes Medley: I'one thousand In Love Once again, Them There Eyes, Why Do Fools Autumn In Love, Steal Away, Angel of Music / Phantom of the Opera, Love of My Life, More, Never Allow No One Human Worry Your Heed, Moonlight Sonata

Since so Sandy, Lynn, Elaine and Shannon have been having big fun in concert and recording this first-class studio album (Made in Canada), "Amused Pinkish," also an apt description of their feelings almost singing together. This vibrant, talented foursome brings united states of america 12 songs, some belters like "All Aboard For Dixieland," "Wing Me to the Moon/East of the Sun" and "Toot, Toot, Tootsie;" and some romantic eye-tuggers like "I Will Love You lot 'Til the Stop of Time," "La Vie en Rose," "Sweet Adeline" and "I've Got You Under My Skin." There's some rampant silliness on ii Weird Al Yankovic covers, "You Don't Desire Me Anymore" and "One More Minute" (called "One More than Contest" here), both songs with very funny parody lyrics about grouping annoyances and getting dumped. Nosotros particularly liked the classics, "Without A Song," bundled by our good friend Kirby Shaw, and Billy Joel's timeless "And So It Goes." Well-called, beautifully performed stuff by Canada's, and now Sweet Adelines', finest!

Buzz : Buzzapalooza
Review: As quite possibly the most highly regarded Sweet Adeline quartet performing today we had high expectations for this new release and are pleased to study that the CD perhaps fifty-fifty surpasses those hopes. Chordettes : Close Harmony
Review: The Chordettes were a very popular Wisconsin-based barbershop-style quartet of female person singers, who placed 13 songs in the top 100 from 1954 to 1961. Formed in Sheboygan, WI in the tardily 40s, the group was originally folk-oriented on the lines of the popular The Weavers. Original members Janet, Carol, Dorothy and Jinny had a sweetness sound and got abroad from folk and into harmonizing. Here's a drove that includes some of their hits along with some lesser known gems.

Chordettes : Fabled Chordettes
Review: The Chordettes were one of the nearly successful female groups of the vintage era. Later on their choice, in 1949, for the Arthur Godfrey talent program, they recorded a series of albums, get-go for Columbia, and so for Cadence. "The Fabulous Chordettes" is a selection from this subsequently period ('54-'61), and includes their outset big striking, "Mr. Sandman,", "Lollipops," "Just Between You And Me," and nine others (accompanied, just reticently). Their vocal way and arrangements, though not strictly vertical, were definitely influenced by barbershop theory. Many of the cuts are mono - the digital primary was transferred from the original analog recordings.
Songlist: Lollipop, Born To Be With Yous, Eddie My Honey, The Wedding, Mister Sandman, Teenage Goodnight, Just Between You And Me, Soft Sands, Zorro, No Other Arms, No Other Lips, Lay Down Your Arms, Never On Sunday

Chordettes : Harmony Encores / Your Requests
Review: As this is another two-LPs for the price of ane CD, nosotros can hear y'all say, "Permit me guess, they'll love this i too." Bingo! The Chordettes, who we recollect of as the offset great Sweet Adelines grouping, pioneered women's barbershop singing when at that place was no such thing, and they did it with course, professionalism and style. "Harmony Encores" was released by Columbia in 1952, and "Sing Your Requests" in 1954, and they comprise 23 classics of harmony and arrangement. While finding the original LPs in any kind of status to play is unlikely, here you become the original master recordings on a CD with pictures of the four women, the original album covers and the original liner notes. Chordettes : Harmony Time Vol i & 2
Review: "Harmony Time, Vol. I & Ii" is a very generous piece of pre-Sweet Adelines history. Past generous we hateful ii LPs (16 cuts) of the Chordettes by themselves, plus eight songs with Arthur Godfrey and ane with Bill Lawrence. It was 1946 in Sheboygan, WI, and 4 young women were singing together, working out some intricate harmonies that sounded pretty good. They named themselves the Chordettes. Encouraged by an early on SPEBSQSA, they appeared in an all-male person Sheboygan barbershop parade, then auditioned for Arthur Godfrey's Talent Scouts, which they won hands. After that they joined the talented Godfrey troupe. We tin can't telephone call them Sweet Adelines Champs, equally SA hadn't been formed however, so how nearly pre-Champs? The pioneering intricate, soaring harmonies the Chordettes worked out themselves are a revelation for lovers of pure barbershop of any gender. Favorites? "Moonlight Bay," "Acquit Me Back to Old Virginny," "Ballin' The Jack," "Smoothen on Harvest Moon," "Moonlight on the Ganges," "Beloved'south One-time Sweet Song" and "Alice Bluish Gown." We also liked the Godfrey tunes, but they are accompanied (sometimes by Godfrey on pianoforte), and feature Godfrey more the Chordettes, who frankly could sing rings around him. In any case, this CD is a joy on many levels!
Songlist: When Yous Were Sweet Xvi, Moonlight Bay, Carry Me Back To Old Virginny, Ballin' The Jack, Polish On Harvest Moon, Tell Me Why, I'd Love To Alive In Loveland (With A Girl Like You), When Day Is Washed, Runnin' Wild, Love Me And The World Is Mine, Moonlight On The Ganges, The Globe Is Waiting For The Sunrise, Love's Sometime Sugariness Song, Let The Rest Of The Globe Go By, Lonesome- That's All, Alice Blue Gown, Candy And Cake, If It Wasn't For Your Father, Hawaii, O Joe, Down By The Old Factory Stream, Time Out For Tears, Can't Exist Seem To Express mirth Anymore, Love Is The Reason, Dance Me Loose
City Lights : With A Flash And A Smile
Review: The star-spangled "City Lights," from the Garden Land, 1992 Sweet Adelines International Champions, have returned with their third CD. Whether information technology's a plaintive carol, such every bit "Little Girl Blue," originally done by the 1957 champion Cracker Jills, and arranged by the legendary Renee Craig, or Gershwin's "Someone To Watch Over Me," the sassy "Hit That Jive, Jack," with it'south horn fills and able-bodied bass line (arranged past Greg Volk), or even Metropolis Lights' version of the Aretha classic, "Respect," each song is approached with the same concentration of musicality, originality and elegance.

Archetype Edition : Something Hot
Review: Archetype fare from the Sweet Adelines' current Queens of Harmony, who habiliment their crown with assurance on this album. "The Manner He Makes Me Feel" is a tour de forcefulness, a clear shimmering vocal with just the correct amount of vibrato, poignantly rendered. "Hit Me With a Hot Annotation" is a belter, all sizzle. These ladies understand that less is more, and don't ataxia their arrangements with unnecessary embellishments; the overall effect is tight and powerful. "Something Hot" is a wise selection for those stalwart Sweetness Adelines aficionados and those who are new to the genre.

Cracker Jills : Cracker Jills
Review: The Cracker Jills were superstars! At that place, we've said it. Crystal Clear : Lucky Solar day
Review: To say that Chris DeRosa, Tabby Miller, Milissa Carmack and Susie Bonds are Crystal Clear would be an understatement! These ladies tin can flat out sing a Sweetness Adelines tune and curve, stretch, blend or belt a barbershop note with the best of them. The chemical element often missing in Sweet Adelines groups, powerful bass, is here, and especially axiomatic on "Our God, He Is Live," performed with Start & Legacy. Great arrangements of archetype tunes, about by the mysterious "Volk," create a wonderful structure for Crystal Articulate to let their voices soar. "Own't Misbehavin', "Chances Are," "Original Dixieland Love Song," "Just Some other Song Nigh Honey," "Orange Colored Heaven," our personal favorite, "I'g Gonna Live 'Til I Die," "For the Sake of Old Lang Syne," "You're Nobody 'Til Somebody Loves You lot," the moody "Misty," sung with Riptide-xv songs, all excellent. This is Crystal Clear's, and our, "Lucky Day!"

Fanatix : Slam Douse
Review: Formed in 1998, Fanatix won fourth place in their first regional, and a wild menu entry to their first international contest in Atlanta, where they placed quaternary. And then came 5th in Orlando in 2000, then after much work and preparation, in October, 2001 Connie Noble, Tenor, Darcy Newell, Lead, Sandy Shelver, Baritone and Gerry Papageorge, Bass, were named 2002 Sugariness Adelines International Queens of Harmony! Fanatix : Up A Tree
Review: Always very entertaining the 2002 Queens of Harmony are clearly enjoying themselves on this latest release and the listener will well-nigh certainly join in the fun. Why this release is called "Upward A Tree" we are not quite sure but going by the photos on the CD they seem to exist having a fine old fourth dimension well - upward a tree.. We actually enjoyed this recording with voices fit for royalty and arrangements past all of the greats including Brian Beck, Greg Volk and Clay Hine.

Footnotes : Best Foot Forward
Review: From Sylvania, Ohio this talented young quartet is certainly i to sentinel. Coached by multi-medaled barbershop champion Gary Lewis these young ladies are the 2006 winners of the Sweet Adeline Rising Star Quartet Contest and certainly show the ability to go on to perhaps be the youngest e'er quartet to ever win the Queen of Harmony title. This recording was also mixed and produced by Gary Lewis whose expert bear on really does allow the wonderful immature voices to really shine and makes for a highly enjoyable heed for fans of female barbershop music.

Four Bettys : Betty or Not, Here Nosotros Come
Review: With a combined fourscore+ years singing, Iv Bettys has paid their dues bigtime. In 2004 they placed 7th in the world at the Sweet Adelines International Competition in Indianapolis, and, similar cream, rose steadily to the top: 3rd Place in 2005, 2nd Place in 2006 and not surprisingly, at the 2007 Calgary Convention they were named 2008 Queens of Harmony! "Betty or Not, Here We Come up" is a "Best of" collection, and so it's hard to pick favorites among these 13 cuts. The Motown standard "Get Fix," the traditional favorite "Danny Boy," the sweet, nostalgic "Pooh Corner," the a cappella chestnut "The Panthera leo Sleeps This night," the popular hits "Here's That Rainy Day," "Then Much in Dearest" and "Don't Rain on My Parade;" and Barbershop winners "I Told Them all about You/You Love Medley" and "I Dear You Truly;" and the Spiritual medley "Amazing Grace/My Bondage are Gone." Four Bettys : Four Bettys
Review: Third in 2005, 2nd in 2006 surely this fabled quartet are the next heirs apparent to the Queens of Harmony crowns. And how worthy they are is clearly demonstrated on this fine recording as the ladies are in top grade every bit they sing some archetype barbershop songs forth with some vintage jazz gems. Fabricated upward of members of the Melodeers and the Choral-Aires Sweet Adeline choruses the quartet members Lynda, Joan, Heather and Cori fine individual voices blend in great harmony with a spirit that shows why we love female barbershop singing and then much. This recording should be in all fans collections.

In Detroit in 2005 they took tertiary, in Las Vegas in 2006 they won 2nd, and in Alberta, Canada in 2008 they were crowned SAI Champions! The thirteen songs on "Good Queen Fun" show usa why. Jewel City Chorus : From The Heart
Review: Gem City won the Sweet Adelines Internationals in the Chorus Category an unprecedented five times! How did they do information technology? Smashing material, enthusiastically performed and dynamically arranged! Makes it sound elementary, doesn't it? Directed past Jean Barford, this Dayton Ohio aggregate's audio is as unified as tin can be, its joint well-baked, timing right on the coin. "As Time Goes Past" is swung a little faster than average, "How's Every Little Thing In Dixie" exaggerates the phrasing finer, hurrying through the tune similar the March Hare. Other great songs: "Mississippi Medley," "The Joint Is Jumpin'," and "It Don't Hateful A Matter If It Ain't Got That Swing Medley."

Growing Girls : All Grown Upward
Review: The popularity of these four charming Swedish ladies remains unabated, though it's been over a decade since they won the Sweetness Adelines crown. "All Grown Up" opens with a snippet from their first rehearsal, in 1979, when the iv first began singing together. They were girls and then, as the film on the CD will prove, and that auspicious occasion led to a lifetime engagement! The interpretive skills, range and timbre that narrate their sound are partly learned, only also due in function to lucky happenstance - the kind that occurs when 4 voices complement each other, resulting in a lusciously full representation of the audio palette! This rainbow is at its most dazzling on "The Homo I Beloved," "Human activity I Do" and "Where Is Love," combining talent with arrangements tailor-made to show it at its all-time.
Songlist: Do Lord, This Could Be The Start Of Something Big, If You Had All The World And It'south Gold, Annihilation Goes, I Only Have Eyes For You, Goodbye Goodbye, The Human I Love, For Once in My Life, The Churchbells Are Ringing For Mary, Deed I Practise, Where Is Dear?, 60's Medley, Anthem
Growing Girls : Thank You For The Music
Review: The Growing Girls, 1989 Queens of Harmony, are from Ronninge, Sweden. Commencement competing in International in 1988, where they placed sixth, they bounced into the meridian spot the following year! This 1999 release (though the songs were recorded in 1991 and 1995), takes a swipe at the pop oldies chart with Abba'south "Dancing Queen," and the Beatles "With A Little Help From My Friends." Ii arrangements are in their native natural language, with the residual divided between SAI stalwarts such as "Birth Of The Blues" and "That Erstwhile Quartet Of Mine," and standards such as an Andrew Sisters medley. Their blend is polished and warm, and their delivery is natural and unfazed. "Undecided" is a particularly engaging organisation with all the "bells and whistles"!
Songlist: They Didn't Believe Me, Andrew Sisters Medley, Arvid, Birth of the Blues, Undecided, Jag nu den Parlan Funnit Har, Dancing Queen, That Old Quartet Of Mine, Let's Call The Whole Thing Off, Thank you For The Music, With A Little Aid From My Friends

Review: Based in Anaheim, California, the Harborlites Chorus was founded in 1960 and since 1993 has been under the direction of Pam Pieson, the 1990 queen of harmony of the highly regarded Panache quartet. The chorus are winners of numerous regional and international medals and this is their first e'er CD recording. Jackpot! : Can You Hear Me Now?
Review: Kay, Gina, Joanie and January-Winter Park, Florida'due south Jackpot! Quartet, has been together for over 6 years now and are the 2009 Sweet Adelines International 2nd place finalists. Kansas City Chorus : Take Yourself a Kansas City Christmas
Review: This fun-loving group of over 130 women, the oldest active competing chorus in Sweet Adelines, who have ranked in the top ten each fourth dimension they have competed in International competition, bring us a lovely Christmas album. Ladies Beginning : 1st
Review: When "Ladies Commencement" was founded in 1991, they didn't know that their proper noun would also become a testimony of our success. Since the first German Barbershop Competition in 1992, Ladies Commencement has taken kickoff place every time. They won three provincial choral competitions and were the showtime High german Chorus to qualify and be invited to the Sweetness Adelines Internationals in Atlanta in 1999. Their managing director, experienced German "Barbershopper" Manfred Adams, brings the best out of his "Ladies," whether information technology be in music, choreography or simply entertainment. "1st" is all sung in English, and is an impressive, finely-crafted bout-de-force of a CD. The powerful harmonies, the innovative arrangements and the sheer, infectious spirit of these four women prove why they take won and then many awards in the growing European Barbershop movement. 15 cuts, "This is Some Lucky Twenty-four hour period," "Original Dixieland One Step," "Stars Fell on Alabama," "Information technology Don't Mean A Affair," an amazing bundled "Drunken Sailor," a "Good Old Acappella" that warms our hearts, a smoky "Hit Me With A Hot Annotation," a randy "Gimme, Gimme, Gimme," Elvis' "Love Me Tender," and a swinging "Royal Garden Blues" are favorites. Sweet Adelines has taken strong root in Europe, and Ladies First has the kind of sound and pizzazz that we have only seen from groups wearing International medals and posing in front end of large trophies-give 'em a mind!

Review: Brittany, Tenor, historic period 14; Mary, Bass, age 15; Mia, Lead, age 14 and Caitlin, Baritone, historic period 17 are lovely, casually dressed and very immature-looking (2 of them still have braces) in a photograph on the front end of the one-page liner notes of their debut CD, "Moments to Retrieve." On the photograph on the dorsum, they expect much more mature, nicely coifed and wearing matching gowns, earrings and, oh yes, Sugariness Adelines medals around their necks. On July 22nd Sweet Adelines held their 2005 "Rise Star Quartet Contest," for groups historic period 25 or younger, in Greenville, Due south Carolina, and Sunnyvale, CA's UnderAge took the Gold!
